Konqueror- the lovely KDE MFS

Posted 08-25-2012 at 04:18 PM by leosubhadeep

It's a well-known fact that users switching from Windows to Linux find KDE more convenient than other desktops (here I'm excluding the lightweight desktops such as xfce). Right after getting...

Back story
This is going to be a short blog post. Mostly with commands. Basically I run a media server for online courses/lectures called Echo360 ESS. At some point the LVM volume which holds the lecture captures nearly filled up. I was getting Icinga alerts on it and by looking at the rate of data generation in munin showed me I had better hop to it. So that's what this post is about.

The fun stuff

I added a disk to the virtual...

Woke up this morning feeling a bit groggy. I'd stayed up entirely too late last night debating different human interactions with my wife and a friend of ours. People are not like computers. They are not predictable...at least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I stumbled through my morning routine, wandered out to the kitchen to grab my lunch, threw the work laptop under my arm and walked out to the car. Bird poo on the driver's side window...again. Not just any bird poo,...

ok.

Come to the realization that all my old computer stuff will not work with the newer media. Spent a little time writing various scripts for personal use. Made a debian text only removable install for the insignia infocast. Desktop hd bit the dust. Was able to back up most everything. Forgot to grab the tuxpaint pics. Replaced the drive and installed Debian instead of Ubuntu. Plastic on an old laptop screen section disintegrated. Such a fun week.
