iptables revisited

I spent a bit of time revamping my iptables rules on a public torrent/voip server of mine, so I figured I would dump them here (sanitized) for future reference:

The Linux port of KeePass is called KeePassX.

The following knowledge base article discusses the encryption mechanisms involved with securing keepass databases.

That's a good read and I highly recommend everyone read it. It tells you about mitigating brute force attacks by modifying iterations of hashes. It even has a little button that computes 1 seconds worth of hashes automatically so that it takes one second...

A new version of Exton|Defender Super Rescue System (SRS)

I’ve made a new version of Exton|Defender. This time based on Slackware 14.1 64 bit. This new version uses Xfce 4.10 and kernel 3.12.1-x86_64-exton.

Exton|Defender SRS comes in three versions. (Two are based on Fedora 19).

When I first bought my current workstation (currently running Wheezy) several years ago, I got a base station that featured two DVI ports and a VGA port. "Hot Dog" I thought, "I can plug three monitors into the back of this thing, one into the side, and with the laptop screen I can have up to 5 monitors on my workstation!" Imagine my disappointment when as soon as I plugged in the second DVI monitor, the display on the laptop screen disappeared. I was really looking forward to...

Testing a new toy

The other day while running a maintenance for a customer in which we had settled on communicating via IM, I noted that typing on my android was a pain. Sure, the on screen keyboard is ok if I'm texting a quick message or typing out a short explanation of the final deal, but going from my laptop to the android and back for each step was getting old...so I figured it was time to grab a bluetooth keyboard and wire it up to a Galaxy tablet and test it out...only my wife beat me to it and picked one...
