Ouch!

Set up a tftp server on a K2-500 running Debian squeeze.

Went to redboot install dd-wrt on an old airlink ar430w. Did it before on another unit without a hitch with using a different set of instructions. This time it foobarred. Do not think the router is totally bricked, but will have to make a jtag cable to try to fix it. Think I have a max232 chip around here somewhere.

Wished I had just spent time coding tonight. At least the soon to be discontinued router was only...

rsync commands and how I backup

I run the following command when I want to just update one directory to another. It only copies files that have changed. If any files have been deleted from A they still exists in directory B. The trailing slash after A/ is necessary to tell rsync to move the contents. Otherwise A will create a folder in B called /media/B/A and move the files over.

rsync -ruptv /media/A/ /media/B

Logon to Multiple Samba Servers

I have three Linux Servers running Samba shares in them. All are meant for different purpose. For administrative purpose and running some utilities in these servers\shares from Windows XP system, we use "net use Drive: \\ServerName\ShareName" command to map the share as a drive. During the process for each server we are to enter username and password. Is there a way by which I use my windows username and password for the logon.

Note: The Samba username and password are similar...
