After pondering , debating with great passion the issue of linux and why it doesn't achieve mainstream adoption , i personally came to the following points that would if adhered to increase the odds of popular success.

Kubuntu 10.4 on HP Pavilion dv3 laptop. I bought 8 DVD software library because not on Internet at home, and cannot build the index to use this repo, because KPackageKit says Error, Cannot mount CD-ROM. KPackageKit is a tremendous disappointment all around, especially after Synaptics Package Manager was piercingly good, and has vanished.
The file managers and K3b are mounting DVDs. There is no /etc/fstab line for it.
Every once in a while I read a post that is nothing more than a google search url with the thread title entered as the query. That bothers me.
I know that there are several very experienced posters on these forums who are understandably irked when inane questions pop up. I wrote a simple program where I enter my ingredients at home, and the program checks recipes to see how many ingredients are missing to make the different recipes.
I had a long busride with the vegetarian cookbook my sister gave me, and I was thinking how most of it looked good but Im always missing some ingredient or other...
Anyhows, the program works fine - I wrote it in Octave, which is what we learnt at school and...
