grabbing videos from youtube

Posted 12-09-2011 at 09:20 PM by sumeet inani
Updated 12-09-2011 at 09:34 PM by sumeet inani (explanation)

There are lots of full length movies (http://www.youtube.com/movies) on youtube . You cannot grab that video as it is drm encrypted . So I decided to use ffmpeg
I took a screenshot of web browser (opera) then opened jpg file in kolourpaint to find out top left & bottom right of video frame in browser . They were found out to be
24,129 & 669,524
which indicated 645x395 video dimension
So , I ran
Code:
ffmpeg -f x11grab -s 646x396 -r 30 -i :0.0+24,129 -sameq out.mpg

SELinux and Apache ProxyPass

Posted 12-07-2011 at 12:39 PM by sag47
Updated 08-05-2012 at 12:58 AM by sag47

Today I was having trouble getting a httpd ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse to work. As a background I'm working in RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.1. It took me a while to figure out what was wrong (longer than it should have) and as it turns out it worked after I disabled SELinux. So my configs were correct in /etc/httpd/conf.d/* and it passed all config tests. I'm sure you don't want to read a whole post of talking so I'll just get right into the grit of the commands. For the rest of the explanation...

Password generator for Linux - Bash Script

Posted 12-07-2011 at 12:05 PM by sudhagud

Getting on with system administration means to have a constant security aware work flow. I have written a simple script to generate a fairly complex password. By default it creates a 8 character length. If a length is given then it can be between 9-32. Anything above 32 is truncated to 32 characters and anything less than 9 is defaulted to 8.

Suggestions are welcome. The script itself.

Code:
#!/bin/bash

Network Firewall Auditor and Checker for Linux

Posted 12-07-2011 at 11:54 AM by sudhagud

On a day to day work load, starting one with simple task to complex multiple tasks, IT System Administrators and all other personnel who look after the IT Data Centre and IT Infrastructure, sometimes find that they have to run a multiple command set, that to for simple information. In recent times the Desktop GUI and the relative backend tools that make the Linux System have advanced well, but for remote system administration, unlike Windows where RDT can be used, Sysadmin's prefer a shell and a...

Support

Posted 12-07-2011 at 11:51 AM by kbscores

There are so many forms of support these days. It seems as technology grows so does the number of forms and quality of support we receive. I'm always so hesitant to call different companies because you never know if you are going to get a random person reviewing a guide for assistance or an actual person who has technical experience. Even within one organization I work for one group of technical support staff is split into three different levels. Each level works as a filter for each call or...
