Probably true, but I like I said, I take special precautions when someone has INTENTIONALLY tried to do damage, successful or not.

I don't condone what Kenny does with his malicious code either, but micro$oft is just as bad with their RANSOM CODE.

That's the name I call it. I will provide two examples.

Example #1 of using RANSOM CODE

You decide to upgrade your window$ OS to the next version. You install it and activate the product.

You also have a second computer and you want to install the upgraded version to this computer as well. You say to yourself "I have 30 days..."

Here is where the RANSOM CODE comes to play. After 30 days, you'll need to contact M$ customer service and purchase a product key. if not, You are LOCKED OUT of your system. That's a BAD micro$oft, Bad micro$oft

Example #2 of RANSOM CODE

If you have a trial version of M$ office -- you'll have a number of days to use all it's features.

After the trial period, you'll need to purchase it to continue using it. If not, M$ office will prevent you from opening any file(s) you created. Bad micro$oft, bad micro$oft

So you seek for an alternative office application and hope it can read M$ office documents.

M$ bottom line -- PAY OUR RANSOM or else!
Of course, you all probably know this already. HA HA HA

With open formats, you always know that you can get your documents back. Good open source, good open source

(Still, I find it absolutely sickening that M$ has people store their precious documents and memories in formats that are illegal for tham to understand.)

Who says you can't do something cool with windows. Even if it was done ON linux! Make sure you read the description under the video.

It's really a shame 90% of the population still is dumbed-down enough by M$ that they are convinced ₩indo₩$ is their only choice.

That would be expected...micro$oft has their OS displayed in computer stores, magazines ads and online shopping sites..

A lot consumers are aware of another OS called Mac OS. As for linux, if someone in their household isn't using linux, they probably wouldn't know it exits.

The best part is that we have choices. Whether it's linux, the BSDs or solaris.

And besides, I don't want linux to be popular like window$, I want linux to be popular, but just enough for the hardware vendors to see linux as another alternative to window$.

Broadcom made news in the linux world by announcing to release their code for the popular BCM43
chipsets. Who knows, maybe this might wake up other companies too.

- Cheers

I so agree DV502!!!
getting people to migrate to linux is scary for them, it is good to know that most universities are well versed in linux and it is just a matter of time before linux is a house hold name and advertised on the tv with everything else....

And what's more: The fact that Ubuntu is now more popular than Linux itself should also wake up companies who fail to support Linux with their devices. And UTouch is another thing that should stir up more hardware support.

Pardon me if this seems picky, but this doesn't logically make sense...if Ubuntu is a Linux distribution, how can it be "more popular than Linux itself"? Unless you mean in the sense that the kind of user Ubuntu generally attracts is more interested in, well, Ubuntu (i.e. the fact that it's newbie-friendly) than in the underlying system.

EDIT: Or, you could bring up the old "Linux" vs. "GNU/Linux" naming semantics argument (the fact that technically "Linux" is just the kernel, while "GNU/Linux" includes the GNU userland)...but I see no reason to. "Linux" rolls off the tongue easier if you ask me.
