If Windows was truly a poorly crafted OS then it wouldn't be nearly as successful in the business market.
And what do you say to technologies like DirectX? how is that not innovative and original?
windows was introduced to a customer who had nothing else to compare the technology with, they assumed like everyone else that it was expensive and so it must be good (in the days before matsui, saisho etc you always got what you paid for.....), so no one complained (except hard core engineers ) and the M$ monster took advantage of this (it is called commerce), it is not so much 'the emperors new clothes' but the 'ordinary guy down the road's new PC'
direct x 'OMFG' yes please lets have something that has the highest privilege level and let it be controlled by an email attachment, no wait I have a better plan, why don't we get embedded data in a word processor to have control, what can go wrong ?

I'm sorry I fail to see why DirectX isn't an amazing technology. There's really no-other technology out there than can compete with it. Open-GL is quite robust, but it is ancient technology in comparison.
Yes I'm certain because the last post I replied to last night (two-nights ago technically now, it's 12:32am here) was fresh in my memory when I woke up this morning and I couldn't find it anywhere.
You're right -- nice demo! Even nicer than playing FlightGear after making your own super-hi-res scenery.
(And yeah, I don't play games, but I got into customizing FlightGear & making scenery for it for a while. Should get into that again, it is definitely cool.)
