I haven't touched my motorcycle rebuild job since I hurt my back a while ago! But I keep looking at the poor thing just stood there all alone in the corner of the garage. I can't just ignore it I have to continue, after all the work I did! I had the frame shot blasted, then re-coated with plastic. I completely stripped the engine, replaced anything that needed replacing, like new rings all round, new gudgeon pins (or piston pins as they are now called). I ground all the valves in (16 of them), then...

Ubuntu 9.04

Well; I aquired the Linux format DVD (from a friend), with Ubuntu 9.04 and Mandriva 2009.1 as well as quite a few applications on the DVD (all applications are in tgz format though).

I decided after a day or so, seeing as I have a disk image of my Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, I would do an upgrade. I have nothing to lose,time on my hands, and I'm interested to see what happens, as I have quite a lot of programs on this computer.

It's a special Linux Format Magazine edition...

grub cannot access LVM partition anymore

hi,

on an older computer I installed openSUSE 11.0 in a LVM partiton, just to try it, with GRUB on a different ext2 partition.
It worked fine until I installed fedora 10 in another partition which I resized with qtparted.
I also changed slightly the LVM partition with qtparted, using the little empty space between the tree chunks (swap, home, root).
Now I cannot boot opensuse anymore!

I have learned how to access the LVM partition, thanks to...

The problem is the correct driver is not installed. You need to install envy:
Open a terminal
type sudo aptitude install Envy
type Envy -t

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" and follow the prompts
/etc/init.d/gdm restart
