Mapping the tablet to monitor with the aid of an inkscape, plus fine-grained mouse accuracy

I'm speaking of the wacom/genius/aiptek "drawing/writing" kind of tablets, not the "big smartphone", mini-PC-embedded-with-touchscreen type, even though cintiqs and the like blur the distinction a bit.

Without a GUI to actually map the correspondence between the tablet and monitor, one method is to first create an image that is just two rectangles: one representing the full area of your tablet, and another rectangle to the proportion you want to use of the tablet...

Configuring "spare" wacom/drawing tablet space as extra keys or something else?

It's not an urgent matter so I won't post on the forums. But if anyone knows it's possible I'm quite interesting in directions on how to do it, specially if it's something more or less trivial, like not requiring to re-program the driver or something.

If the title/subject isn't clear, sometimes, in order to have the tablet area proportional with the screen, one may need to "unmap"/deactivate some of the tablet area. Then perhaps this could be configured as extra keys or...

Notes on how I may have managed to get wacom tablet to work on Arch, before I completely forget it

By "work" I mean having "hovering" and "keepshape" mode, not just a worthless slow "pen-mouse". My thinking is that it wasn't working due to concurrent configuration files. There isn't only xorg.conf, but on /etc/X11 there is a xorg.conf.d folder, and there there was a ##-wacom.conf or something, with different settings than the ones I had set manually on xorg.conf.

HAL is deprecated, or something like that, and I don't have any .fdi file for...

Slacklet - a new OS Mod Proposal

Posted 01-08-2010 at 09:49 PM by lumak (Lumak's Guide to Random Things)
Updated 10-20-2010 at 12:04 AM by lumak

If you have read my other post, you'll know I want to install GNU/Linux onto a Tablet PC. I've thought about it long and hard and think that Tablets really deserve an OS design for them.

I propose a Slackware Tablet - Slacklet.

Why?

Slackware is simple to manage and it's the OS I prefer.

Real-world Justifications?

Less work on creating a Tool Chain.
The user can use their main machine running Slackware to compile...

Linux on a Tablet PC - which way to go.

Posted 09-18-2009 at 11:21 AM by lumak (Lumak's Guide to Random Things)

Which way to go from here? I recently received a Fujitsu Stylistic ST5010 tablet PC with windows xp tablet edition installed. I instantly thought of how great it would be to get linux installed on it but haven't taken the plunge yet... Mainly because there are no distros specifically for tablets! Not to mention, I'm a slackware user.

This leaves me pondering:

1. A lot of the software I looked at seems unmaintained.
2. Matchbox-project looks promising but...
