Install Wheezy with LXDE and ssh server

Enable contrib and non-free

Follow the entry to get the machine onto the skolelinux nw.

Restore an old/previous session, but do not load the tabs right away: an end to the dilemma of empty session versus restoring tabs. Add to "about:config", if it's not already there:

Set to "true", and it doesn't hurt to add also:

Set to 0. I guess it depends on the version or whatever, I don't care to find out. I wish I knew that...

Fedora 17 and the brother printer

The Brother printer driver for my printer runs into SELinux problems post-install. Fortunately, the selinux troubleshooter made this a trivial fix:

Fedora 17 and the nvidia geforce display driver

This is how I installed the nvidia driver in Fedora 17 for 64 bit x86 without using a 3rd party repository. My experience will not work with all configurations.

1. Download a compatible 64 bit x86 display driver from http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_a...y_archive.html (32 bit x86 display drivers are at http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_archive.html)

2. Install the kernel-devel and gcc packages.

3. Create the file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nouveau.conf...
