My First Blog in LinuxQuestions.org

This is my first blog in linuxquestions.org.

In Oct of 2005, I started using linux. Back then i had a backgroung in linux, since I bought a book about linux installation and administration. It comes with a publishers edition of redhat 6.0. But in October of 2005, I used Fedora Core 2. since Red Hat stop in Red Hat 9.0. And then, I became aware of the other ditributions. Some say slackware is better, some say Debian, some say Gentoo. A friend told me to visit the linuxiso.org site...

The Blog Starts

Hi Everyone,

I've decided that since LQ is generous enough to offer this space and since I presently have some time to devote to such endevours That I would write a Blog about Life in Ubuntu 6.04 (Dapper Drake).

A quick bit of background first.
I have been using Linux for many years and Ubuntu since 5.04
The upgrade path I took to dapper was editing /etc/apt/sources.list
and then apt-get dist-upgrading (in init 1).

Overview and Expectations

In a few short weeks I'll start my training for my RHCT. For many who read this it would sound like I was going for an A+ certification because RHCT shouldn't be that hard, right? Well, I'm definately not a software guy. All my training has been in networking, communications, and hardware. I stumble every time I boot up my linux box, but hopefully that will be a thing of the past in the near future.

KDE 3.5.2 rpms for Mandriva 2006

Well, today I've been hovering over my system as I've noticed that there have been new RPMs made available for KDE 3.5.2 (for mandriva 2006) during the last couple of days. You'll have to search over at mandrivausers.org for links to the repositories.

It was a relatively painless experience. Just a case of running the software manager, going to the section where you configure where you want to download packages from, hitting the "add custom" button, pasting the repository...

The linux newbie!

Hello, i am the linux newbie, but i havent been using linux in a while, Xandros won't boot anymore :( But i have been using windows to make websites running on linux. Though, that doesnt make any difference than if my host had a windows server XD
