This is my first blog in linuxquestions.org.
In Oct of 2005, I started using linux. Back then i had a backgroung in linux, since I bought a book about linux installation and administration. It comes with a publishers edition of redhat 6.0. But in October of 2005, I used Fedora Core 2. since Red Hat stop in Red Hat 9.0. And then, I became aware of the other ditributions. Some say slackware is better, some say Debian, some say Gentoo. A friend told me to visit the linuxiso.org site and I found lots of distributions there. I downloaded the most downloaded distros, mostly debian based, RH based, and slackware based. I bought many blank cdrs and burned every distro that I downloaded and install in in VMWare in my WindozeXP pirated machine, :)). I have learned that many distros based their distribution in either Red Hat, Debian, Slackware or Gentoo. Then I discover LFS, Linux From Scratch. I like it because you can customized linux and make you own distro. But i didn't use it til now, i just read about it. and even gentoo, i didn't successfully installed a gentoo with x window system. what i successfully installed were Red Hat based and Debian based systems and Slackware 10, 10.1.
And now, what I like is Debian based distro, like Ubuntu. But I used Red Hat Enterprise linux because I develop programs in java. And i want the java implementation of Sun Microsystem, which only supports Windoze, RHEL, and Solaris.
