A Bit About Me

I dove head first into Linux without a life jacket in 2001. I was a transit bus driver at the time and left myself no option for returning to Windows, so I had to succeed, or fail trying. I started with SuSE 7.1 Professional and moved through Red Hat 7.1/7.2 and Mandrake 8, 9, and 10 before returning to SuSE 9.something. I ditched SuSE when they did their deal with Microsoft and moved to Slackware 10. Later I switched to Kubuntu. Now I use Ubuntu 8.10.

How to answer questions without wasting too much time

Okay, I've just got through another flamewar, so I decided to write a some info about answering questions without wasting too much time in the process. The content is based on personal experience, my own point of view, and isn't supposed to be absolute truth or something. I also don't expect someone to agree with me. Recommendations are written in random order, and are supposed to prevent wasting too much time typing replies, or breaking your keyboard too quickly.

Video games in Slackware

First I had to get the nvidia drivers for my card. I was rather amazed that there was a Slackware package and that I did not have to compile from source. That made life a lot easier, or perhaps just this task a lot quicker. Either way it was no problem getting the package. Installing it was a bit trickier than your average Windows or Ubuntu install, but it was't terribly complicated either. All i had to do is quit my x session and log in as root.
