Not that I really know what to write about

Today will be a day of little productivity as I'm attending a security symposium rather than going to work. Am very curious, though, since this really is part of my work.

Upgrading to Ubuntu 8

I have installed U6. I was told that upgrading to U7 would overwrite U6, it didn't. I now have a U6 AND U7 partitions on my HD.

How do I remove U6 AND U7 from my HD before I install U8?

Linux on Netbooks. A dropped ball?

My main laptop is a Dell Precision M6300, and while it is a fantastic computer, there is no getting around that it is a pain to lug around. The thing is just large and heavy. So to give myself a new option, I decided to take the plung into the netbook world and picked up a Dell Mini 9 running Ubuntu. From both a power and form factor, this thing is just right for taking notes at meetings and doing email and other light tasks. While I'm generally not an Ubuntu fan, I decided to give it a try...

KDE 4.1 / NVIDIA in Slackware

Have to say, KDE 4.1 is looking amazing! Still pretty buggy, but very operational at this point.

The latest NVIDIA drivers (177.82) seem to work well, but there are some nasty bugs (not sure if this is the driver or KDE). When initializing KDE after logging in, kwin mosttimes displays garbage and crashes (SIGSEGV). The handler catches it though and you can continue as if nothing happened, but occationally the shadow of a window is not cleared, boxes trail around the area of the...
