Slackware-14.1-Pdnsd 1.2.9a

Posted 02-08-2015 at 04:17 PM by arniekat

Pdnsd is a proxy DNS server with permanent caching (the cache contents are written to hard disk on exit) that is designed to cope with unreachable or down DNS servers (e.g., in dial-in networking).

Create the following user and group. I picked a number so as to not conflict with the uid's-gid's assigned by

# groupadd -g 313 pdnsd
# useradd -d /dev/null -s /bin/false -u 313 -g 313 pdnsd

SlackBuilds has version 1.2.7, but I used...

Does youtube know what you've been doing elsewhere?

I'm a recovering addict in chess (not any good though, just enough to experiment some of the sweet taste ov victory, sometimes), and every now and then I have a relapse. I used to watch some chess videos on youtube, but sometime ago I unsubscribed those channels, deleted the chess-related history for a bunch of "pages" back, and I've been marking "not interested" in chess-related suggestions, and they were decreasing in number.

But now, yesterday, I had some binge-chess...

ExTiX 15.1.1 with LXQt 0.8.0 and kernel 3.18.0-10-exton

Review (Jesse Smith) has reviewed ExTiX 15.1 Gnome Edition on February 2, 2015. Smith was critical on many points. I have therefore now rebuilt ExTiX from scratch. The biggest change is that I have replaced Gnome 3.14 with LXQt 0.8.0. Moreover, I have added the programs that I believe Smith was missing in the previous version of ExTiX.

ExTiX 15.1.1 build 150205 replaces version 15.1 build 150105 with Razor-qt and version 15.1 build 150104...

Posted 02-06-2015 at 01:03 AM by rocket357 (Musings on technology, philosophy, and life in the corporate world)

Headed out the door and ended up skiing down my lawn this morning before work (steep lawn + heavy backpack + very slick mossy ground = me on my back, but not until I built up enough speed to actually do some damage to myself and the lawn). By the time I got home tonight from work, my back was hurting bad enough for me to take a few pain killers. They've definitely kicked in, it's getting late, and I think I have too much going on at the same time.

I'm building OpenBSD-STABLE on...

It seems that sharing the config folder of chromium via symlink isn't a good idea

Short story shorter: two Debian 8 installs on the same PC, different HDs, same username of an user. Why not just symlink /home/user/.config/chromium in the new install? Well, it seems your extensions and their data get erased.

Story's moral: do backups of such folders first. Even if it works with mozilla (if I recall), Google could well be "nah, we better delete this stuff".
