Full Circle Weekly News Anchor

Posted 04-01-2021 at 11:45 AM by zaivala

I just got a message in my Telegram from Ronnie Tucker, congratulating me on becoming the new voice of Full Circle Weekly News podcast. This show should be weekly, and I intend to keep it to that as much as possible, and will run 3-5 minutes in length so it should not be hard to fit into your listening time. It is featured on podcatchers everywhere. I'll let you know when I actually go into production. I am not a skilled audio editor yet, but have lots of experience as a news reader and have a...

Boy, that felt like a rough year. A lot of bad things happened. An auto accident which maybe should have cost my life but which currently only resulted in a constantly-sore shoulder and lost my job for me. Worker's Comp ignoring me most of the year (I got all the way to getting an MRI on the shoulder and they never made the appointment with the doctor to evaluate it). My mother falling and breaking the pin in her hip, causing her to have surgery, go to a rehab facility, and, just before the end...

Posted 12-15-2020 at 09:45 AM by zaivala

I was looking for a distro to try for the next episode of Distrohoppers' Digest (https://distrohoppersdigest.blogspot.com) and thought I'd revisit Mageia, currently in a Beta 2 of its next version. Mandrake was my first successful installation of a Linux distro, so I like to check up on how things are going. Mageia appears to be produced by the remnant of original French developers, so by all accounts should be the closest to pure Mandrake. Considering how much I like OpenMandriva and PCLinuxOS,...

Polydistroamory

Posted 12-02-2020 at 10:00 AM by zaivala

I know I take a lot of ribbing for my choosing to run so many different versions of Linux on the same machine. I just found myself wondering, how far back could I cut my distros and still be happy? I think the number is currently 4. Linux Mint is always my go-to, Bodhi is what I like to run when the task is not must-get-it-done, OpenMandriva is both an homage to what I started with and has some very fun features, and then probably Feren OS. There have been times I'd only be watching Feren, but...
