Moving Root To A Larger Partition

I wanted to set up the root hard drive on a 20GB partition. It was previously on a 10GB partition. The first thing I did was to make sure the 20GB partition was empty. Then my plan was to copy all important files to the new partition and change the Master Boot Record so that it pointed to the new copy. Along the way I'd have to change the /etc/fstab file along with the /boot/grub/menu.lst file.

First I switched to a terminal, by typing ctrl-alt-F1. Then I stopped GDM. This is what...

Yesterday, a friend came over to help me try to put Rapla, a resource booking software based on Java onto our server which runs SuSe 10.2. I had updated it in preparation. But in the end, neither of us had enough experience or knowledge of the command line interface to accomplish it, or not completely. Our server runs without a GUI, and I know just enough to administer day to day stuff. Sometimes.

We tried putting it in /etc...why? Well, as one person might have described it,...

Hello Again,

In this post I am going to show how to change ssh password authentication to rsa key authentication.

The system I have used to perform it successfully was Fedora 9


Ubuntu 8.1

First step:

generate key-pair on client

ssh-keygen -t rsa
once you are done with key-pair generation..(I you don't want to be bothered for passphrase during ssh login.. keep it empty)....

xkb, dead keys, multi keys, xmodmap, etc. Seeking guidance.

I have found a bit more information today on xkb and after thinking through it as well as other information I have gathered over the past couple of months, I've come to a new realization that perhaps I've been going about keyboard configuring all wrong. So I've decided that I should seek some of the experienced users for ideas on which aspect of keyboard configurations I should concentrate on.

I gather probably the easiest way for me to configure my system is with two entirely different...
