It can get really hard, ain't it? specially to imagine the code as it executes on your computer, especially interresting are loops (I sometimes let myself get away imagining how the loop will execute or where to put interrupters... I like that a lot! But right now I'm sgtruggling (and boy how am I!) to fully understand class contruction in C++ (using classes is easy, to make your own... ouch!)
WindowsBurner
Yeps.. that was the first program i wrote on the C-64 back in 1984
Prety basic and lame basic.
Yepps. It was me trying to take a class at administrating Windows2003 server that managed to screw up my hd. Looking back at it now i have to admit it was a good thing. Ate taking a backup of the XP disk (from a clean install) the disk now has gone to rest in the HD-heaven.
It spins and it's unhappy about something. It sounds like it's complaining. And it don't show in the bios either. So 120 gig died....... *sighs*
Well. I've finally managed to get a working debian up again. (misses the sound now).
Thetargos
I'm going to take a look at their pages fo that one. *smiles*
That woud be nice to get that one.
Abe_the_Man
I'm in on that. Let's get the basic settings clear. What sort of style and so on for the overall design and theme. Then we can start working on things for the Game.
I'm going to check out a game called CUBE later (if it will work this time)
It's a game where you are supposed to be able to edit the map you're playing on while you're playing it online. Multiplayer-levelediting? For then to play the new map. Souns rather interesting to me. (if i can compile the bastard)

be careful of cube, i got the binaries working but whenever i changed a level or something like that, my comp locked. it isnt that way w/ deathillustrated, though. i wonder why ?
LavaDevil94
Well you've gotten further than me. I still can't get the sound to work, and i can't even get cube running on my setup. Probably not worth it if what you're saying is right.
Anyway i don't like those pre-compiled binarys. It's better to gt it made on my box so that it works.
*dives back into the strange world of soundblasters or was it NO:SOUNDblaster*
I know what you mean kroppus
I never use precompiled binaries if I can help it.
I always get the source.Sometimes I can even get the source for slackware ( which is great ) which I grab immediately. I never tried CUBE but.. I'm not much for games that other people make. I like making them myself better.

...well I hope they got that Windows recovery thing fixed. That thing has destroyed my WinXP 1 installation TWICE IN A ROW! That is another reason I use Linux. Personally, I believe that if you still use Microsoft willingly now, you should be banned from the Do Not Call list. WinXP is bad enough about generating spam for me.
Also, what DOES have Glib 2.3? Mandrake 9 has 2.2 and I think RedHat 9 also has 2.2 as well. Hadn't tried it though.
As far as Zelda, all we need is a Gamecube emu that'll run real games. Lemme know when you guys find one and I'll go get Metroid Prime. Other than that, you can get Zelda for all the other systems running under Linux. (was playing Zelda 3--Link to the Past the other day under RedHat!).
I don't have the bandwidth to download anything over 20MB or so. CrystalSpace looks fairly interesting to me, though I haven't had a lot of time to look at it. Also, I know nothing about gameing (except how to beat the final boss! ) so I don't know if what I'm looking at is good or not.

i think mandrake 9.1 has glibc 2.3, and rh8.0 rpms have asked for a libc.so.6 glibc2.3 version. to tell the truth, im thinking of upgrading. i have the disks, its just when ive done it in the past, it wipes my MBR. i think i solved the problem now by not installing two lilos . also, im not sure about upgrading to xfree4.3.0. when i upgraded my ati radeon 9000 drivers to the latest, there wasnt any hardware 3d, which is totally unacceptable. still, i might know the problem, and i might get around to solving that annoying text mode looks like gibberish problem.

i wonder what the easiest final boss to defeat was? for me, it would be a tie between sonic adventure 2: battle in the hero story, and the legend of zelda: majora's mask.

We'll need a side discussion for that. I say the end nightmare in Zelda--Link's Awakening. ...especially if you have the Boomerang. One shot one kill. It just don't get much easier than that! I may be able to beat that with my final boss--Bill Gates! Just don't let the Lyxes get you!
