looks like theres more blood in this project now thats good to hear.
so we have these tools for use in the game right now:
3d modeling - blender
programming language - c++?
level design - ?
i think we should use stuff like sdl, openal, and something i found on the net the other day: http://www.khronos.org/openml/spec.html
its called openml and from what i saw on linuxgames.com it wants to rival directx.
btw, windowsburner, dont feel alone from age. im only 12
Abe_the_Man _ I totally agree on a CS like mod. It is something we may be actually be able to fathom right now. It will let us get good groundings in game making. A full fledged game would prolly never be completed due to work overload. I mean most of this is going to be repetitious boring work that requires hours and hours of our time.
Im willing to provide as many hours as I can but this could take years to achieve something that will be as good as we really want it to be. Especially if there are not many people contributing. If things roll on ans we get more serious people involved then we could always expand. And I would like to it to be something worthwhile in the end. Something people will choose over commercial competitors or at least have it's dedicated clan followers [if we're that good].

i started about 2 yrs. ago when i wanted to make a game using tcl/tk. im learning c now because i dont think tcl is efficent enough. ive made a few games: http://web.mountain.net/ld94
Wow, finally some new life has come into this post. Things were becoming a bit tired. Windows Burner, Lostman, welcome! That openml sounds pretty awsome LavaDevil, a lot of potential i think. So a CS like game?? Is everyone in agreement? If so we better start getting things in order. Get some webspace, maybe post a thread in the general forum to recruit. Because the sooner we actually get things in order, the sooner we'll stop sitting on our hands, and the more likely this game will actually see the light of day. I kinda want to make it cyber punk. Thouhgts?

You got Maya P.L.Ed , Karma Tools (animating UT models) and UPain (3d paint prog for models.
So far i've not seen any version of Maya that's free to use on Linux. I've sent them a mail asking for one. I claimed that i had only Linux and that i really wanted to try out the program before i invested so much money in that software. *blushes* Ok the last is probably what can be called a lie.
I'm also looking into another program called Houdini, but since i only got a pc at work now. It's not much i can do.
*managed to screw up the whole pc with win2k3*
You terminated a PC with UT2003? I knew it sucked but I KNOW it don't suck that much! Oh well, I guess that's another good reason to get WINe going.

There is a linux version of MAYA PLE for Linux, just I could not download it (the big SOB is 514 Mb in size!), during last month they released it (15 october, I think)... Just hadn't got the time to download (though I've downloaded Fedora 1 in the past 3 days )

How good are you with C?
Email me @ josh33@eastlink.ca.
Maybe we can start the project I've been thinking of starting.
I'll tell you the details in e-mail. [/B]
What do you mean by any good at C? I have a couple programs I've wrote. I'm not what you may consider an expert, as in any language (human language) I understand pretty good the language if I read it... but as in a foreign language, I have a pretty hard time to actually speak it fluently In any case, it is just a matter of practice, and am now trying to get the more complex aspects of C++ (again I need practice, it's easy to understand, but tough to speak it, especially speak it good )
