Mike Silver - Pretoria, though I prefer the old studio version (Mike: “I am asked to play Pretoria. For the nice melody, because the text is anyway bullshit”. Not on the record, but in immaculate, clean German.)
Of course, during the summer season, the Museum dedicated to the Nazi-regime and the Nazi-party rally grounds are a good place to go in Nuremberg... but you do not have to.

I am about to get me an update on the situation in Germany, which is not really necessary, I learned. Going back to 2017, I arrive at Volker Pispers for a quick summary.
If You Love These Blues - I just recently stumbled across this awesome live performance that was only published a few months ago but originally from 1995 which I suspect is largely because the video quality is substantially less than HD and there are several glitches but the performance is just incredibly beautiful, absolutely masterful. That may be in part because Gary was playing Peter's now famous "phased" Les Paul and apparently Peter was in the audience!!! I'm sure he didn't know whether to tear up or just grin like a fool since Gary sho nuff delivers!... even on the first cut which is on an oddball acoustic.

what do those two have in common?
they've been doing the same stuff already 20 years ago!
german speaking cabaret, i laughed my guts out at hazel brugger a few months ago.
to me, it is absolutely hilarious how she uses her role of young female interviewing middle-aged politicians to completely destroy them in the process (and it works best when the audience realizes that, but not the interviewed male). example, and one question translated:
(the interviewee is a social-democrat)
HB: If you had to choose one, would you choose social or democratic?
this is what she has to say about herself, and i translate one excerpt:
Q: how is it to be a female cabaretist (i.e. stand-up comedian)?
HB: there's a statistic that says that of all men and women interviewed, 95% (that's the same percentage across sexes) said that one of the most important characteristics they'd like their partners to have is a sense of humor.
only it turns out they mean very different things: the women would like a man that makes them laugh, the men would like a woman that laughs about their jokes.
looking at that, i don't really know where i belong, and so i often find myself alone at home, laughing at my own jokes.

The Flaming Lips have been around quite a while and have over 25 albums but are still making music. I don't know if I had forgotten or never heard them before, but only recently gave a serious listen to their music.
They do a lot of cover songs and have teamed up with Stardeath and the White Dwarfs, Peaches and Henry Rollins to do Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon. Stardeath does a cover of King Crimsons "In the Court of the Crimson King".
Not all Flaming Lips videos are fit to be posted here due to content, but can be seen on youtube for those interested. Space Oddity and Sweet Leaf Live come to mind.
