I was listening to Jay and the Americans – “Come a Little Bit Closer” on DashRadio. Then I felt like listening more attentively to Ritchie Valens – “La Bamba”.
But no. They are distinct in too many ways... but still...
Well forgive me for a wee self-promotion but on this one I am listening to, I also edited from an ancient VHS tape from 1984 and I'm playing on it with my band, Fourplay (the Rock n Roll band, not the Smooth Jazz band), at a gig I put together with and opened for The Nighthawks. Obviously in 1984 so-called "ProSumer" camcorders were brand new and had plenty of flaws (thus the edit work) but I think it has a charm to it and might qualify as an "Oldie but Goodie". It's a rendition of RnR Classic, Boney Maronie.
