The difference between my view and religious views is that I don't see any way for your current life to affect any future lives you might have. So, yeah just make the best of it and don't assume that your next one will be better or worse.

Which is it?? Either you ARE going to judge people or you're not. And you keep going on about "gods people"...are you SURE you're one of them?? Weren't you 'sure' about another religion at one point too? Aren't OTHERS sure about THEIR religions??? Again, you want to shove your point of view on people...you're 'right', so you apparently get to 'judge' others.

You're a bigot and a hypocrite.

This is a big problem of nowaday people..they forget to actually introduce themselves to given material and expand their Divergent thinking library. Let me put it this way then - remove any life you can think of Earth be it bees or humans or whatever else comes in mind and Earth will still rotate around Sun happy ever after..so what? Does that mean anything is useless? No..

You are so wrong..if everyone would contribute properly we would be living in Paradise on Earth..simple.

I would accept just something OK. I don't need Paradise, but I certainly do not want the hell that many people seem to wallow in.

Let's work towards OK as I think at least it is attainable.

I would be the first to light a joint, DOWN a shot of Jack Daniels, dance a happy dance, if I was wrong.

But, usually the 1st thing out of a humans mouth, "what about meeeeeeeee".

Then second thing out of their mouth is, "what about theeeeeeem".

Peace on Earth and Good will towards Men (oooops, forgot women).

That's the other side of story - if everyone will only care about themselves and be egoistic towards rest of world - we will soon live in Hell. We can't live in considered utopian but possible unity without joining forces and making peace not war. Because we are in same boat(same planet Earth for all of us) as they say - if one will damage boat rest will suffer aswell..or like on same ship - if someone will make it sink - everyone will go down with it not just few..but it is possible! That's what matters..as mentioned before - humans create all these problems in world not nature.

BTW: Recently i came about different version about God..who knows..maybe something from it actually explains why everything is the way it is.. Can read about it here. Basically it tells us that humanity existed before God then they created God from ritual then God manipulated world to order and almost finished creating complete paradise but then power was used up unable to complete her work and she dissapeared promising to reappear someday in future to finish what she started.. Yes i know it is game version and we can't take for complete serious games, movies, books etc. about this God discussion but why not assume they are containing something true? Afterall even in those the basis stay same as in "holy books" and 'myths'.

And you're still not answering questions. Tell me what I didn't quote correctly? Point out a mistake or misquote, please. You resort to insults, which further shoves you into the 'troll' category.

To quote you "What are you afraid of?". And I'll post the questions again, so you won't have to look for them. I'll even bullet-point them, since last time there were a few in a row, they weren't 'clear' to you:
  • Which is it?? Either you ARE going to judge people or you're not.
  • You keep going on about "gods people"...are you SURE you're one of them??
  • Weren't you 'sure' about another religion at one point too?
  • Aren't OTHERS sure about THEIR religions???
Again, you want to shove your point of view on people...you're 'right', so you apparently get to 'judge' others. You're still a bigot and a hypocrite.

And let's add 'liar' to that list...didn't you promise us you were going to leave here?? Quite obviously you didn't. What's keeping you?

I'd much rather be called a bigot, a hypocrite and a liar than to spew out recklessly that someone else is one.

It's not reckless when you're proving it by your actions and words. And you're STILL not answering the questions asked. If you want to discuss and debate things, answering questions is part of that process. Several have been posed to you.

Also, since you're one of 'gods people', you can probably clear up a few things:
  • When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. What do I do?
  • I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
  • I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19-2. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
  • Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? And what would be a fair price these days?
  • I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I just let the church do it?
  • A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
  • Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
  • Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?
  • I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
  • A farmer violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them - (Lev.24:10-16)? We've all got busy schedules, and it'll take a long time to get folks together.
Since you've 'studied' these things, I'm sure these will be childs play for you to answer.

blue: Consult God foremost, and consult your neighbor.

  • I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

blue: Nothing less than the blood of Christ.

  • I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19-2. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

blue: I think a more interesting question is, "Who has better beer? Canada or Mexico?" To answer your question, traditional Jewish slavery was usually for something like bad debt, or imposed on prisoners of war. If I were lawfully a slave for my own bad debt or for that of my father, I would count my subjection as just. If my "master" were ruthless or kind, I would accept it as from God's hand, with due complaints in the former case. I would strive for freedom in every case. Yet fundamentally, there is no fair price for a slave.

  • I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I just let the church do it?

blue: If you've never worked on the Sabbath, then you should stone him.

  • A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

blue: It really doesn't matter what you or your friend thinks is more the abomination and your disagreement is rather petty. If God counts two earthly things as detestable, in heaven the disparity must be negligible.

  • Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

  • I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

blue: Only if your gloves are certified "domestic" pigs. Again, use your common sense.

  • A farmer violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). blue: I prefer having them tickled to death over stoning.

If a public law is on the books, and understood publicly, if it doesn't violate God's law, or inhibit my relationship with him, or violate my neighbor's human rights, I should abide by it. Otherwise, I should defy it, if to death.
blue: Not child's play, neither rocket-science, but certainly time-consuming.

I'd say you're certainly on a roll yourself.

@All: this thread should show intelligent and friendly discussion among members, be on topic and if possible a pleasure to read. So please be considerate. And if you really can't help yourself then feel free to abstain from participating (and that goes for all involved and in any thread on LQ).

So..let's take a look at your 'answers'

I did...they don't like it, as said. And you didn't answer the question.
Quote:
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
blue: Nothing less than the blood of Christ.
So EVERYONE used the 'blood of christ' to buy/sell slaves back in the day? Wow...must have had a LOT of blood laying around. And you didn't answer the question.
Quote:

blue: If she's your wife, you'll know.
...which is NOT what the question says, is it?? Leaving your house puts you into contact with other women, doesn't it?? And you didn't answer the question.

Nope, sorry, that was not the case...your lack of historical knowledge is showing. And you didn't answer the question. And your 'logic' in this one is absolutely mind-boggling.
Quote:

Oh, it HAS to be stoning?? Why is that??? And again, you didn't answer the question as asked.

I see...so, can I then assume that you and your ilk are down at your local seafood restaurants, protesting against shellfish consumption, much as (I presume), you protest against gay rights? Do you often go to barber shops and protest about them trimming hair at mens temples? Aren't BOTH an equal abomination then, so why do you single out the other as 'worse', and say nothing about the other two?
Quote:
Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

...which has no bearing on the question, and doesn't answer it. Try again. And how long is the hair at YOUR temples???
Quote:

So you're saying that if 'gods law' DOES violate human rights/dignity (i.e. slavery), it's totally fine to ignore 'mans law' about it?? Interesting.

Marginal effort at best, you didn't answer most of the questions, and evaded others. And you STILL haven't answered the questions you were asked several times in a row before.

Try again.
