LFA (Linux for all) build 150513, 64 bit, uses only Fluxbox as Window Manager and Cairo-Dock as Desktop Interface.

Among many other programs Google Chrome (so you can watch Netflix movies), GParted (a free partition editor for graphically managing your disk partitions), BlueGriffon Web Editor (works almost like Dreamweaver), Synaptic Package Manager, SMPlayer (a free media player with built-in codecs that can play...

Make a bash script recognize bash aliases

Posted 05-12-2015 at 04:16 PM by the dsc (linux-related notes)
Updated 05-12-2015 at 04:22 PM by the dsc (mismatched tags)

Say, if you have a script that would take as a parameter something that you have aliased, it wouldn't work.

I mean:

$ ./script.sh myalias whatever else
/home/dude/scripts/script.sh: line 3: myalias: command not found

In order to make it work, the said script must include:

Code:
shopt -s expand_aliases
source ~/.bash_aliases
(Or wherever your aliases are set, which would preferably be...

CruxEX (CRUX 3.1) with LXDE and kernel 4.0.2-x86_64-cruxex

Posted 05-12-2015 at 02:05 AM by exton (Exton's Blog)

CruxEX 3.1 64 bit Linux Live CD/USB is based on CRUX 3.1 (latest version, released 140716), which is all Linux enthusiasts/nerds favorite OS. (CRUX 3.1 is a lightweight Linux distribution for the x86-64 architecture targeted at experienced Linux users). CruxEX 3.1 2015 uses the LXDE Desktop environment. In build 150511 I have replaced the original CRUX kernel with “my” special kernel 4.0.2-x86_64-cruxex, with support for “extra everything”.

About CruxEX 3.1 version 150511

In an earlier blogpost, I covered configuring a static AWS VPN setup with OpenBSD. I promised I'd revisit it to include the BGP (dynamically routed) version if I ever got it working.

Hi, I got it working.

**sorta** working (major emphasis on "sorta").

Let me explain...OpenBSD is a policy-based IPSEC engine. AWS operates on a route-based IPSEC engine. The major difference, in laymen's terms, is that with route-based IPSEC you can configure...

Fortunately BSD is still an alternative.

Posted 05-07-2015 at 12:46 AM by Randicus Draco Albus

I have not spent much time on LQ since moving to BSD, but I decided to add to my blog, just because.

With the development direction Linux has been moving along for the last few years, it is nice to see there is still an option for people looking for an alternative, not a freeware Windows clone. Hopefully, BSD will not follow Linux down the road of Windows emulation. I know most LQ members will disagree with my assessment, but that is the world through my eyes.
