Question Error - KDesktop in SUSE 9.3

Hello everybody,

I had to reinstall my OS SUSE 9.3 (1001 times). Now I have noticed that when I click on "MyComputer" icon on the Desktop, I get the following error message:

The desktop entry file
file:///home/bgorjup/Desktop/myComputer.desktop
is of type Link but has no URL=... entry.

The same is when I try to open "Network" icon.
When I try to open Trash , I get : Error KIOExec: Malformed URL trash:/ .

All other icons behave normally.

Is there any help?

when you open the properties for the icons what do you see under the URL tab?

you should see:

MyComputer: media:/

Network: remote:/

Trash: trash:/

It sounds like your trash has the correct URL but it sounds like the other two are missing the URL part if thats the case input the URL ant try again if you still have issues let us know whats you find out.

Hi HenchmenResourc,

Thanks for your answer. Yes, I see media:/ , remote:/ and trash:/, but as I said, when trying to open it, I got the error message. Well, I was trying to change the URLs but without success. I then reinstalled my SuSE and now everything is working as it is supposed to work.

I see that you have suse 10 beta installed. How is it? I have downloaded 4 Iso CDs, but have not installed them yet. Would it be better to install it on separate comp to avoid problems on my computer ( I have dual boot system with Win XP pro which I use only for ACAD and some other programs which are not running on Linux).

regards
