K3b -> growisofs error when not ignoring burnspeed

I always get an OPC error in K3b when I want to set the burn speed automatically or manually. Here is the K3b/growisofs debug:

K3b Version:0.11.17
KDE Version: 3.2.1
QT Version: 3.3.1

Executing 'builtin_dd if=/tmp/kde-timo/K3b data project.iso of=/dev/hdc obs=32k seek=0' :-[ PERFORM OPC failed with SK=3h/ASC=73h/ACQ=03h]: Input/output error

growisofs comand:
/usr/bin/growisofs -Z /dev/hdc=/tmp/kde-timo/K3b data project.iso -use-the-force-luke=notray -use-the-force-luke=tty -use-the-force-luke=dummy -speed=4
When I choose "IGNORE" as burnspeed I will get a "highspeed-burn" at 12x speed with a 8x certified medium. Then it finishes the writing successful.

Please help, I am trying to solve the problems since 2 weeks now and I'll get depressed on it, soon.

I am using:
DVD-Burner: NEC ND 3500
Distribution: SuSE 9.1
Kernel: 2.6.5-7.111
growisofs: 5.21
mkisofs: 2.01a27
