k3b can't find growisofs

I have growisofs 5.21 installed and it's chmoded to 666. It's located as /usr/bin/growisofs. But when I start up KDE, it complains about not finding growisofs. I checked k3b options, and /usr/bin is a search path to look for the bin files. Why isn't k3b finding my growisofs?

not sure, but try:

# In k3b's setup/preferences, there is a place to look for plugins, etc. You might need to point something to your file, or do an "auto scan" type thang

#2 Might growisofs need to be chmod 777 ...? Making it executable might be something, but as I am at a friend's place w/o Linux

I am not able to look at my own machine

Okay, this is weird. It finds it when I launch k3b as a user "mark" but if I launch it as root, it can't find the file. THe file is chmoded to 777 and the owner of it is ROOT! It's group is bin. Weirddddddddd
