do grep -i growisofs /var/log/packages/* and see where it is installed, then tell it to k3b
...or just look at the configuration menu, it should fix it

If you still interested, here is to how turn growisofs accessible to k3b :
- make sure you have a group named cdrom in /etc/groups
- as root chown root:cdrom /dev/YourBurnerDevice
- open k3b as root, go to setup/configuration menu > advanced setup
- change the group name from burning to cdrom
- click ok, quit k3b
- open k3b as simple user (not root), growisofs should be accessible now (and you can now burn cds/dvds as simple user, not root)
you may have to sudo chown -R YourUser ~/.kde if one time, you started k3b with sudo

this does not work for me
im trying to burn a .img file which is the same as the .iso file.
I followed all of your steps and still I get the 'cannot find growisofs' error in k3b when trying to burn the image.
