I'm having isssues trying to boot linux from a windows sever via nfs... i get the laptop up to the mount , then it dismounts and i get a error 1037 in my activity log. Any help would be appreciated.
NFS is a filesystem sharing methodology for UNIX/Linux as opposed to SMB which is Windoze' filesystem sharing methodology. You CAN use SAMBA on UNIX/Linux to share SMB shares to Windoze and mount SMB shares from Windoze. Windoze doesn't natively do NFS. There are add on products for it like Hummingbirds' Maestro and I think M$ now sells a product that allows for NFS mounts but it is an add on.
Can you give the mount entry you're using and also the full text of the message you're seeing?
Have you verified the machine that has shared out the NFS filesystem is up and that the filesystem is in fact shared out? Is that machine a UNIX box? Linux box? Does exportfs on that machine tell you anything? What about showmount on that machine?
