I want to install ns2.31 in fedora10, so i downloaded the ns-allinone-2.31.tar.gz folder.
My problem is when i try to unzip this folder whith this command:
tar -zxvf ns-allinone-2.31.tar.gz
i encounter this error:
gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: child returned status 1
tar:error exit delayed from previous errors
so can i move to fedora 12 ? or it must be CentOS 6.x ? (because i am new in the linux field and i dont know if i will be able to manipulate CentOS 6.x and if it is like fedora or it is something else)
thank you

Re #7.
Just stick to Fedora 10. No reason to use another unsupported = Fedora 12.
CentOS 6.x is the "Enterprise version" of Fedora 12 - 13 :
No difference in the install and the user experience.
But no guaranty that a recent update has made it unusable for CRCN.
See post #6 ".. used to be ..".
there have not been any security updates to fedora 10 for 6 years
so ALL AND EVERY!!! now fixed security issue for the past 6 years will NEVER!!!! be fixed in 10
ALL support for fedora 10 ended in December of 2009
you would NOT !!! run Microsoft XP that is missing 6 YEARS of updates and patches
nor run a install of Win7 that you NEVER UPDATED in the 6 years it has been around
-- so please DO NOT run a linux OS that is missing 6 years of updates
CentOS 6.x is still supported and will still be supported untill 2020
Bu me i dont need new updates, i will use it only to work with CRCN patch and even in this forum many of them use fedora 12,
so they will get wrong result? or what?

It's all 'yours'. You break it you get to keep all the parts.
The CentOS Project is happy to announce the availability of CentOS 7 (1503). This release includes a number of new features including a major update to IPA, which adds support for two-factor authentication. Other enhancements include the addition of OpenJDK 8, the return of Thunderbird, and improved container support.
We’re also expanding the availability of CentOS images across a number of vendors, providing official images for Amazon, Google, and more. For self-hosted cloud, we also provide a generic cloud-init enabled image.
For more information about updates and improvements in CentOS 7, please check out the release notes or the release announcement in the mailing list archive.
