I need to verify the chip information. Google search results indicated --->this<--- site (is where you can get updated drivers and firmware) but I need to confirm that. At the same time, there may not be an update available if you are running the most current version.
Thanks...

Reason: Added information/Correction.
From what I see here, here and here, it appears that the driver link I provided above is not the correct page to try to upgrade your driver and/or firmware. Right company but potentially wrong driver/firmware page. To make sure you get the correct driver (and/or firmware,) you should contact Qlogic here first! Or you can use their e-mail link at the bottom of the third link above. You can access their main download page here.
Regards...

Since kernel 2.6.27 netxen_nic driver is in kernel, you need to add correct firmware. Usually dmesg reveals what firmware version kernel driver is looking for.
6.1 is 6 versions out of date
now keep in mind that ALL of the major versions of programs were locked BEFORE 6.0 was released
and they will STILL be the same major version in 6.11 when 6 goes End Of Life
BUT
the current in the 6 series will have a newer driver
