nvidia driver update


after installing nvidia driver from rpm (for a specific kernel) can i update the kernel to a diffrent built from rhn.

My initial thought says no your best bet is to compile it from source that way if you update your kernel you can just recompile the Nvidia drivers. you will need to have the kernel headers atleast probably need the whole source. If I am wrong someone please correct me.

i thought the same but i dont want to compile driver everytime i update the system guess i will be stick with the driver that came with redhat

compiling the nvidia drivers doesn't take all that long since they aren't very big. If you have an nvidia card I would really suggest the nvidia drivers since they are the best for those cards. Any drivers that came with redhat are probably the ones that are standard for Xfree86 and are inferior.
