SiS 191 onboard network under RHEL 5

Hi Guys,

I have just installed RHEL 5 on a PC with an Asus P5S-MX SE motherboard that has an onboard SiS191 Network Card.

lspci finds this

00:04:0 Ethernet controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 191 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (rev 02)

but there is no eth0 configured and no line about it in dmesg.

modprobe sis190 doesn't do anything either.

Any idea how I can get this card configured - appreciate the help.

Regards
Charles

some further information

Some further information I discovered. dmesg shows this

sis190 Gigabit Ethernet driver 1.2 loaded.
ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNKD] enabled at IRQ 3
PCI: setting IRQ 3 as level-triggered
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:04.0[A] -> Link [LNKD] -> GSI 3 (level, low) -> IRQ 3
PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:04.0 to 64
0000:00:04.0: Read MAC address from APC.
0000:00:04.0: Can not find ISA bridge.
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:04.0 disabled
sis190: probe of 0000:00:04.0 failed with error -5

I'm sure this is the problem - but how do i fix this?

Hi

In theory, this card must work... You said that
Quote:
"modprobe sis190 doesn't do anything either."
Please do the command to load the module again, and after this, see dmesg and post the last lines showing info about kernel response for the module loaded.
