inactive device SIS 191 ethernet controller


im setting up a proxy server, using fedora core 7

im currently using fedora core7 i386,
CPU specs,
intel core 2 dou processor,
ASUS P5S-MX SE motherboard,,
and a built-in network card,,

fedora has already detected the card,, but it we cannot set active the card,,

can anyone help me on this??

Did you try
Code:
modprobe sis190
to load the module and then use whatever utility FC has to configure the nic?

yes , i tried the code "modprobe190" and theres a comment that says, "line 6: ignoring bad line starting with options"
what does this means??
does the the module that supports my sis191 is not present???
hmmm

Check the 6th line of the /etc/modprobe.conf or /etc/modules.conf (whatever your distro uses) to see if it uses the correct options statement for this module. Perhaps you can even remove (comment out) the 6th line to see if the module is loaded by the kernel.
