In Mandrake 9.2, I have to start my modem dial-up connection from
the Mandrake Control Centre as a Super User .
Is there a way to have a Quick Launch Icon on my Desktop to make
this connection as a normal user ?
I have Fedora Core-1 as well, in which I have a Red-Hat-Network button
on the menu bar to initiate a dial-up connection. But Mandrake 9.2 does not have this feature.

it depends on what desktop environment or windomanager you are using, if you are useing KDE it shouldn't be too much hassle, just make sure your nonpriveleged username is in the /etc/sudoeres file with visudo (not sure the exact details of the sudoers file syntax) then create an icon on your desktop with the following command line , sudo (your command) and make sure to check the option to run it in a terminal so you can input your password) note, the sudo password is the nonprivileged username's password, not root's
