Winmodem (i no linux doesnt like them but...)


OK here goes,,,hi all, i love linux but there is one thing that is doing my head in, the fact that i can never get on the internet.

I have only sucseeded on getting on line with my winmodem they are lycoris and xandros desktop os2, now i dont stick with theses distroes becasue i dont like lycoris and xandros ant free!!! ( i no there is a open cericulation but i want another lol)

so could some one PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me a list of distros that work with winmodems i have a conextant hsf pci modem, i have tryed loads of drivers but they never work!!!

please help

antibill; dont believe its os,s but winmodems. they are now being supported in linux. try this,http://tldp.org/HOWTO/HOWTO-INDEX/howtos.html in (56pp) of pp54 top of page; Winmodems-and -Linux
HOWTO expand it please for detailed info

You've got a Connexant? You're in the clear! Head on over to Linuxant! Trust me! You don't need any of that bull, just go to Linuxant and read the simple guide they have. I did, and me and my winmodem we're busy posting on this message board minutes later.

mikezila; thanks have seen articles on winmodems some where within linux. just could not recall where. great to know that site. yeah got afew then bought a non winmodem did not want to hassle with config being a
NEWBIE(the scourge of the bottom in the pit)(pun)

mikezila; when u right u r right, but i did not inferred newbies r lowly no way just inept but trying to learn. since 2k still learning n attempting to point other newbie,s with learning tools provided by linux n members like
