Its possible if there are drivers someone has written for it. But the win in Winmodem means the modem basically runs off software written for Windows platforms. That is one reason why a winmodem mainly only works with Windows..
check out www.linmodems.org for a listing of winmodems that work in linux..
Another thing you can do is check whether your winmodem is running on a Conexant chipset (they released all the supporting drivers not a while ago...) or compatible (many of them do, ie- HCF or HSF) you can do it by visiting www.mbsi.ca/cnxtlindrv/modemident.html and downloading the probing program for Win or Linux. Then, if it is compatible, download the rpm package for your kernel version.....Install the rpm, and follow any preticular instructions....
hmm i caint seem to figgerit out. i got the conexant hcf winmodem, i gots the drivers, it is supported.so i installed the rpm package, i set it up - it sets my modem to /dev/ttysh01 but that aint listed under my modem setup in kppp dialer. argh. help?
Glad to hear yours is working. I haven't had the same luck. I tried linking but still haven't been able to get Kppp to dial my modem. I have a HSF conexant modem. I'll go play with it some more...
