glxgears reporting high frame rates

Hi All,

I have a Nvidia video card and it reports 300 fps. Isn't this high and how can I interpret this data? Isn't television 30 fps. Why such the high value?

300 fps is perfectly normal. 1500 is as well in fact. You'll notice a difference in the fps as you grow and shrink the gears window.

glxgears is a proof of function... not a good benchmark tool like here

cheers

Note that the glxgears FPS scores are dependent on the size of the window in which they are running. For accuracy, you need to run it in full screen mode.

Regarding your 300 FPS, that's entirely respectable/normal, assuming that your card isn't one of those bleeding-edge, super-expensive deals.

You can have a look at globs for a slightly better benchmark.
