Unhappy Celeron CPU?


Is it true, that Intel Celeron CPU's don't work properly whit Linux?

no, it's not true. they work just fine

They aren't that bad. I've got 600 running Mandrake 10 with 256 meg of ram and it's fine.

A 600? Are you serious?I got a 2,4 in a laptop and that thing moves like molasses.Looking back I should have bought anything but.

I worked for years on a 750 and it was fast and crashless.

Try it with xfce and you will see if it still "moving like molasses"..



I you'll think to trash your laptop advise me first :P

celerons are absolutely horrible in windows, but with the right window manager in linux, they're just as good as anything else.

what's the point of a celeron though? is it intel's attempt into fooling people that they're buying a really fast cpu because it has a high clock speed?
