Celeron CPU?

Is it true, that Intel Celeron CPU's don't work properly whit Linux?

rshaw 09-14-2004 03:37 PM

carlywarly 09-14-2004 04:15 PM

They aren't that bad. I've got 600 running Mandrake 10 with 256 meg of ram and it's fine.

crashmeister 09-14-2004 04:31 PM

A 600? Are you serious?I got a 2,4 in a laptop and that thing moves like molasses.Looking back I should have bought anything but.

I worked for years on a 750 and it was fast and crashless.

Try it with xfce and you will see if it still "moving like molasses"..

:D :D :D

I you'll think to trash your laptop advise me first :P

crashmeister 09-14-2004 05:08 PM

I'll let you know - next time I get to the US that thing is history.:D :D :D

celerons are absolutely horrible in windows, but with the right window manager in linux, they're just as good as anything else.

what's the point of a celeron though? is it intel's attempt into fooling people that they're buying a really fast cpu because it has a high clock speed?
