Funny thing is, you can point out the propaganda reruns on TV but many STILL refuse to believe they're being fed boolshiat by their own government. I guess some people don't want to hear anything that disturbs the little fantasy world they've created for themselves.

Or coming at it from the other direction, how come the government propaganda outlets (CNN, MSNBC and Fox News) can run a story about al-Quida hackers in space and nobody needs any proof? Everybody just accepts that as the truth, even though it's completely absurd.

Trouble is, most people couldn't care less. As long as they're provided with enough dumbed-down entertainment, they're content to let others do their thinking for them.

Mike Judge's film Idiocracy is a great example of that. It would be funny, if the majority of that film weren't true, but it is. Intellectualism and questioning things is seen as subversive and bad.

Seriously guys, empires rise and fall, gov'ts do stupid, deplorable things, powerful people abuse that power, etc., etc.

I think you will find that many folks do care about the topics you're discussing, but this is not the appropriate place. This is a movie thread and you're messing with the signal to noise ratio.

1: Governments have more to hide.
2: There are more dumbed-down movies being made.
Is there any connection between those two? Keeping peoples' minds occupied with trivia so they don't notice what's going on?

OK. This is a thread to recommend movies for people to watch. It is not a thread to talk about how the gubmint is implanting chips in our cereals. There are many many outlets out there for people to discuss these things; LQ and General are not among them.

So, in summary, talk about and recommend films here. Wear tinfoil hats elsewhere.

And by the way, I know where you live...

the latest Batman. It's much better than the first new batman movie. The Joker was very well implemented, IMO. The only problem I have with the movie comes at the part with the ferry, you'll know what I'm talking about ... we all know what really should have happened, I agree with the Joker
