upgrade to Lucid Lynx

Upgrade to Lynx went smoothly. It looks great. The awful orange is gone . Replaced by Purple. So far everything seems ok. More about my experience of this latest version later.
The only thing that did not work was Gwibber. But today Gwibber works. Hopefully it will also work tomorrow and day after.....
Everything else seems to work and it is faster.

UK General Election

Posted 04-29-2010 at 03:49 PM by rich_c

I can't quite remember how, but I managed to happen upon this article. A pretty specific endorsement for Linux and FOSS from the leader of the (current) opposition!

Geolocate linux?

Posted 04-29-2010 at 12:38 PM by williamfromtexas

How close is the nearest distro to you?

Certain distributions reflect their regional origins, and some regions have their own distributions. Regionalization is a major share of the efforts needed in on-going work of linux.

For many, though, the tool isn't the source of joy as much as the community of fellow users. Imagine - hacking late at night on a small code change. Who stays up with you? Not your spouse, not your colleagues or buddies. It's those faceless masses...

Just bad names

Posted 04-27-2010 at 04:51 PM by Mr-Bisquit

Food Lion has a generic cereal named "Freaky Fruits."
I don't know about you but, I'm not going to eat a bowl of drug crazed transvestites.

Another one I saw as a child was "Buffalo Gas."
Someone made a song about it.
"Buffalo gas
Straight from the buffalo's ass.
Burns clean.
Burns green.
Raised on pinto beans."
