Cheap Keyboards and Mice

Posted 06-16-2010 at 10:05 PM by disturbed1

The keyboards for my main PCs are quite old. Purchased sometime between 1999 and 2001. They are not the cleanest of things, some ink on the letters have worn off, and a few keys have become a little difficult to press at times. The oldest one is a Logitec multimedia keyboard, the other is a nice HP model with multimedia keys from the only OEM PC I've ever owned. They still work, they just have years of dust and dirt build up.

This got me thinking about the reason I still have these...

Life n times of banditman

Posted 06-16-2010 at 03:37 PM by banditman

After several distros (well nearly Every distro!) being tested by myself I have come to settle on Slackware Ive tried the rolling release distros sidux and Arch both excellent in their own way but in the end I had to go for a low maintenance highly reliable system that does not need regular updating. Even tried Gentoo but way too slow installing new software, so in the end it had to be Slack!

alternative to rm command

Posted 06-16-2010 at 09:00 AM by ultimate_linux

i've seen many users deleting files and reporting how to recover them.
instead of recovering i've thought of redirecting the files deleted to trash.so,that it might be helpful to recover them.
here's how i do it.

1.take a variable,for example:TRASHPATH.
2.assign the exact path of trash to that variable.
most likely, trash path will be /home/username/.Trash.
3.here's the code just paste this into your .bashrc file.

... at http://drudgery.blogspot.com

I struggle for to produce enough material to keep that half-interesting, let alone a second one that has to only ever be about Linux.

Um, thanks though, obv.

first entry: measuring times for streaming audio

Posted 06-16-2010 at 06:41 AM by caieng

My next post will address the question of the best distro out there, for OLD computers. By old, I mean PIII, with half a gigabyte of RAM, i.e. motherboard/cpu 8-15 years of age.

My test machines, three in quantity, all employ the same testing algorithm, designed to address this question:

Which distro is best suited, among OLD computers, for playing streaming audio, in any one of three different, non-proprietary formats:

mp3
aaCPlus
OGG...
