KDE 4.1 / NVIDIA in Slackware

Have to say, KDE 4.1 is looking amazing! Still pretty buggy, but very operational at this point.
The latest NVIDIA drivers (177.82) seem to work well, but there are some nasty bugs (not sure if this is the driver or KDE). When initializing KDE after logging in, kwin mosttimes displays garbage and crashes (SIGSEGV). The handler catches it though and you can continue as if nothing happened, but occationally the shadow of a window is not cleared, boxes trail around the area of the mouse pointer, etc... seem to creep up.
Can't go back to version 173 as this does not compile with my kernel. :-(
Another nit picky detail is the desktop... I would rather not have to activate the "folder widget" (love all the other widgets by the way, and I have nothing against widgets) and point it at a desktop folder, it should already be a folder? I know there are probably a number of reasons why this was changed, but I hate having that little widget around instead of just dropping things on the desktop.
