That's a good question, I have not. Not sure if I should, it may be too trivial a thing to bother him about.

What are you going to write?

Something like:

We the good people of LQO have decided the the old logo needs to be reinstated otherwise we might be forced to fork.

or maybe simple and to the point:

The new logo sucks!

trying to be humble:

Altough you got probably better things to do (I certainly don't) I would humbly inquire how this new logo came about - not that there is anything wrong with it,

Don't see a big problem here, just don't use "We" in personal letters (IMO, it's impolite and sounds like - "we, the big and angry army of users, demand ...")
I'll send email.

Just don't flood his email.
Not sure if he would appreciate that.

Also "Que sera sera"

Agreed. You only make the chance bigger that your future emails go straight to /dev/null if the first email he ever gets from you is a complaint about a freaking logo. What is this, a Ubuntu forum?

I've just sent email about logo (so don't send more). If it gets "all future emails" blocked, so be it.

This would be very strange if from ALL people who said "I don't like logo" no one sent email to maintainer.

Really, even if I would send an e-mail and risk being put on the spam list, I don't think it would do much good. The weigh of my opinion is virtually zero. Instead, I hope he comes here once in a while (which he does from what I've seen) and he sees that most people don't like the logo, and then maybe he'll change it, and if he sees this thread, he may decide to either use a logo that he likes from the propaganda page or from here, or just simply go back to the original simple logo, or come up with a new one.

Heh, fork Slackware over a logo?
Pat has more important issues to deal with than gripes about a logo. I'm happy that Pat spends his time keeping Slackware stable, bullet-proof. In my opinion e-mailing him about this is a waste of his very valuable time.

Oh, well ... our favorite distro has a new logo: Slackware classic. We won or we lost?

Like all things, don't take it too seriously. It might be gone before you know it.

Face it -- I would have been burned at the stake for a sudden change to ANY of these proposed new logos. I think it's the nature of the Internet. It is obvious that the Slackware community has grown attached to the traditional Slackware logo, and so have the Slackware developers. I guess it must be a good logo that does reflect the simple, no-nonsense Slackware approach. We don't need a GUI that limits our options, and we don't need a primary logo that is hard to read, either. Really -- a lot of people say that Slackware is pointlessly hard. Really? So is a spoken language. Perhaps we should all go back to grunting and creating cave drawings.

Any time there is a learning curve, there is a proportional reward. Eventually it becomes more straightforward without the training wheels (though the training wheels are great for market share grab).

I must say -- out of all of the proposed replacement logos posted here, I like Bruce Hill's logo #1 the best. Maybe we'll give that one a spin on the website, or set up a CafePress store to gauge marketability.

And, at least our logo has never looked like a ring of "Hello Kitty"s. :-)

Bruce Hill did not post any logo in this thread ;-)

And by the way: better classic than flippy
