mouse in Quake3 doesn't work

Juat like the title says, I start up Quake3 after I installed MDK 9.1 and the mouse is stuck in the upper laft hand corner of the screen. What can I do to fix it?

Three questions,

1) Do you have gpm running?

2) What does the pointer section of your XF86Config-(4) contain?

3) What type of mouse is it?

I just installed gpm and it still doesn't work. Here's my pointer section in the config file:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/usbmouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

It's a microsoft optical intellimouse.

I was going to recomend uninstalling gpm if it was already there.

Do "ls -al /dev/usbmouse" and post the output.

We should be able to get this rodent working fine, including the side buttons.

The guy had the problem in Slackware 9, but this should do the trick for any Linux distro.

lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 10 Apr 3 21:22 /dev/usbmouse -> input/mice

Right, edit your X config and change the device to /dev/input/mice, restart X and install the latest point release if your mouse is still playing up

I have the same mouse problem

hi I have the same problem,
please run it from console, quit and send me the results. as I have come across many solutions none of which have worked for me although some may work for you.
I believe my problem is due to my dual-heading system if you too use dual heading then please say so as this may be the same problem.

Wish I could help you out, I no longer have it installed. Maybe someday I'll re-install it.

Hope this Helps,
