slow suse web browser loading behind suse router

dear all,

after discovering the wonder of linux exactly 1 year ago out of curiosity i have decided to convert our "all windows" set up in the office to a mixed solution and am working now to go all linux ithis year.

first thing i did was convert our file and print server (works great)

then i moved 1 desktop after some severe virus problem with outlook to suse 10.0 (earlier then planned, but except for some minor glitches it works like a charm)

then i moved the router from windows 2000 to suse 10.0

the whole setup works great, but after installing the router i noticed that the page loading in the browser (firefox + Konqueror)
on suse 10.0 started to take a long time, it seems to hang "looking up www.lq.com" for about 10 seconds and then the page loads fast as usual. (sometimes it doesn't hang though)

none of our XP computers have this problem, only the suse 10 desktop.

first i thought it might have been a problem caused by an update, but after making a maiden install without any upgrade i still had the same problem.

disabling the firewall on the desktop did not make any difference.

so please, if anybody has a hint where to look!!!

much obliged!

dear all,

if there's anything that i hate then its unreplied posts at LQ, especially when they're mine

don't really know why i didn't have this problem earlier when my router was still windows 2000, if somebody can explain i'm more than happy to hear about it.

in the meanwhile the problem is solved bij changing the dns to static, nameserver 1 + 2 to 4.2.2.3 and 4.2.2.2 on both the router and the suse desktops, (it didn't had something to do with IPV6 in this case), and now my browsing flies like it should again.

case closed!
