I have a Cisco LinkSys router that is hooked up to my DSL modem. I can get into the web sort of thing for it useing a GUI but I can't do it in just prompt. In a GUI brower like Mozilla I get a popup asking me to login. I put in the password and I can get in. If I try this in Links I get an error saying something about not provideing the correct credentials, or that maybe my browser doesn't know how to use them or something. This is quite a problem for me now being that I have no more GUI. Don't ask why, just please help me out. How do I get Links or some other Text based web browser to let me in?
Well, there is Lynx and there is Links. I don't know why. They are both pretty different though. In Links I can actually click on stuff, that can't be done in Lynx.
I don't know what the problem is but if you're just looking for another console browser to try to see if it handles any differently, you could try w3m. I *much* prefer it to Lynx or Links - and if you have framebuffer/SVGA/blah blah capability, it practically is a GUI browser without X. As far as how it would handle passwords or why Links is screwing it up, I don't know, though.
You could also try the fork of Links (same name, but sometimes referred to as Links II). I believe you'll find it compiled without the X Window option in the Slackware Extras directory.
Well, I can actually access the router useing Lynx, I get a prompt for a username and password. It all works except for some "[BUTTONS]". I can't click or navigate to them with the keyboard or anything. What am I to do?
Also, I looked around for the w3m browser, all I find are RPM's. I hate those things...
