Hey, I am running a HP zv5000 laptop with an GeForce 4 MX 32 mb card. I tried to emerge the nvidia stuff for gentoo and that all went well but whenever I try to modprobe it it keeps saying No Device found. Any clues? The driver version is 7174 btw.
Distribution: ubuntu, RHAS, and other unmentionables

Rep:
did you add a line to your /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.X (X depends on your kernel ie 2.4 - 2.6) for nvidia.
generally
emerge nvidia-kernel nvidia-glx
echo "nvidia" >>/etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.blah
should do it. you'll need to reboot or `/etc/init.d/modules restart` to get it to show nvidia in lsmod... note the later method will probable f'up your machine .. so reboot
You may need one of the older drivers, try to mask that one and downgrade to 6011 or something.you should be able to load it with modprobe, sounds like it didn't get installed right or doesn't like that card.Search the gentoo forums I have seen lots of threads on it.
