Smile MythTV ....Capture card problems

I have recently installed Fedora Core 3 and tried to install MYTHTV and the install went find but when i go to watch TV the screen has static on the top 1/2 and is green on the bottom. The only thing I can think of is the capture card but i dont knwo how to check to see if its installed right or even where to start to troubleshoot this.

The card is a Hauppauge WinTV Go Plus TV Turner with Remote Control, that i had purchaced from Compusa.

Any and all help is greatly needed

THANKS TO ALL

Read this (covers FC2, but should be similar). That whole site appears to have a ton of MythTV info,

Note: I found this through google, and the only reason I'm not making a bigger deal of searching is that I did have to dig a bit.

Thanks for all the help guys but I am still where was before. Also for the record I did do a lot of Google searching and I am still doing more Google searches to find an answer to this problem. When I ran the command lspci -v the output I got looked very similar to the one that was presented in the documentation(
documentation ) for FC2 but different because I am using a different card (Wintv go Plus). Everything was installed at boot. Is it possible to have a bad driver that doesn’t work with my card and MythTV?

Once again thanks to everyone.

Also I do agree with sigsegv about looking stuff up it is only fair to do some research on a problem before looking for help.

Try
modprobe -r bttv

then
modprobe bttv tuner=10

You might have to try a couple of tuner options to get it to work right.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Those commands helped allot. I now have video BUT it is really choppy. The Audio is fine but the video is slow and choppy. Any help would be great.

I know the settings in Myth are set to low CPU usage. Would that make a difference?

THANKS

What's your CPU?

I am building a box with an AthlonXP 2100+ (1.67Ghz) that works fine. I understand you need to have a 1Ghz+ to have reasonable MPG2 decoding and Encoding.

You might try xawtv and see if it is any better.
