Looking for TV card from UK that is linux compatible, <£40 and will work with MythTV
I want to create a PVR on my computer using MythTV but my current TV-Card give no sound with linux drivers and I want one that will. I would like to pay around the £40 mark and if possible a remote would be nice.
not for under £40 unless you're aiming for 2nd hand
the Pinnacle PCI TV Rave works out of the box but the £39.99 version has no remote
the hauppauge wintv go has recently changed chipsets and is nigh on impossible to get working (even with the 2.6 kernel)
and the version with the remote was £60 last time I looked (December last year)
The Leadtek WinFast TV2000XP DELUXE is popular and very affordable and includes a remote control. It uses the bttv driver and can be found for £30-35 if you work hard to find it.
look around scan or komplett and you should be able to find a cheap wintv card for £30. just make sure it is based on the BrookTree 878 or 848 chipset and you'll be fine.
My current card is detected as Brooktree and the video works fine but i can't get sound from it for love nor money. Better than buying a new one would be to fix the current one but i have had little luck since I am unable to locate a model number and my knowledge of hardware is limited to the theory section of GCSE ICT.
Boffy
sound? just plug the cable in.... getting sound to work is the easiest part with an external cable. if you want to refuse to use a cable, then the btaudio module is what you want....
